BASSBOOKS GOES TO NAMM 2007!
For those of you not familiar with NAMM; it stands for National Association of Music Merchants and twice a year there is a HUGE convention featuring a who's who of publishers, manufacturers, musicians, artists and more. This year's Winter NAMM was in Anaheim from January 18th through January 21st.

It's hard to describe how big this event is, to put things into perspective: There were 1,535 companies displaying products and 84,695 registrants, 9,889 of which visited from more than 100 countries. Altogether there were three of us that went, myself (Dave), Dan and our author/friend Mike Cornelison. Dan and I drove up from San Diego (about 2 hours south of Anaheim) and met Mike at the hotel. This was my first time back to NAMM since 2000, and the first visit for both Dan and Mike.

We must have walked at least 5 miles each day, checking out everything we could. In our travels, we saw Bootsy Collins, Bill 'The Buddah' Dickens, and others, including many less heralded but tremendously talented Bass players.

On Friday evening, we caught a show called Wimbash presented by Rock House Method that featured Dave Ellefson, T.M. Stevens and Doug Wimbish on Bass. Talk about nailing it, the Bass players were awesome to watch, and an all around great time. A big thanks to Rock House Method for the invite and hospitality. For those interested, we found some links relating to NAMM and the Wimbash show:

On the business side of things, we met with over 30 different publishing companies, many that we do business with regularly but met our reps for the first time! We saw everything available and got some insight as to what will become available in the 2nd half of the year. Needless to say, it was an awesome experience - fun, productive and memorable.
And, the best news of all came directly from Mike Cornelison. See the new release below....

NEW EXCLUSIVE: CLASSICAL MASTERPIECES FOR ELECTRIC BASS VOL. II
When we met Mike at the hotel, he mentioned having 2 surprises for us.
The first surprise was awesome - a case of Guinness that was required to be consumed before the weekend was out. Thinking the first surprise would be hard to top, Mike did just that, with the second surprise being an advance printed copy of Classical Masterpieces For Electric Bass Vol. II!

The original Classical Masterpieces For Bass (CMEB) has always been popular, winning top honors as the best seller of all 2006. Well, CMEB II picks up right where CMEB I ends, including 60 new titles presented in both standard notation and TAB. CMEB VOL. II includes the corresponding MIDI files, just like we've done with CMEB I.
Check it out here, and let us know what you think. We're very excited (and were quite surprised) it's available.

And yes, all the Guinness was consumed before we headed back home - Thanks Mike, for everything!

NEW PUBLISHERS/DISTRIBUTORS
We've added yet another new publisher. Someday (soon) we may run out of new publishers to add, but it won't be this month. Please welcome Music Sales. The folks at Music Sales are the same that made the HotLicks videos available to us at such a great deal. Now, with access to their full product line, we've added the titles below.
Check them out, and as always, if you have any questions, please contact us.
